AFRICA UNDERGROUND
Africa Underground (AU) Productions is a love laced, intersectional, US based production company with a passion for creating transformative live events, podcasts and cinematic creations for online, television and film that showcase the African diaspora. The productions are meant to be inclusive but center global African culture and identity.

Agunda Okeyo is a writer, producer and alchemist born in Nairobi and raised between New York City and the Kenyan capital. Okeyo understands and writes from a global perspective about race, gender, politics, culture, books, film, and comedy. She is published in outlets such as Salon, The Daily Beast, Women and Hollywood, For Harriet, O Magazine, OkayAfrica, The Progressive, NBC and Women’s Media Center (WMC).
ABOUT
Okeyo is a writer, producer and alchemist born in Nairobi and raised between New York City and the Kenyan capital. She writes from a global perspective about race, gender, politics and culture in various formats. Okeyo created production Sisters of Comedy launched at Gotham Comedy Club then Carolines on Broadway. Sisters of Comedy has been in the New York Comedy Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and Afropunk Festival. Okeyo also produced at Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s Ginny’s Supper Club and The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. She is featured in Black Enterprise, NBC, Essence and The New York Times plus in spring 2019 served as a juror at Tribeca Film Festival. Okeyo was formerly on the board of Ladies of Comedy Association (LOCA) and an advocate with #WeAsOurselves campaign for black survivors led by Me Too Movement, National Women's Law Center and Time's Up Foundation. Currently, Okeyo is CEO of Africa Underground Productions.
